During the China-ASEAN expo, the Business and Investment summit of China and ASEAN, and the 2004＇ Nanning International Arts festival of Folk Songs, over 35,000 guests came to Nanning, including the state leaders of China and the government VIPs from the ASEAN countries, as well as the business representatives, performing artists, and the Chinese and foreign correspondents covering the event, etc. The security task for the event posed a severe test to the Nanning public security team.
The Nanning police had put 100,000 man-times of security staff into the security work, and built a 4-demensional seamless shield that covers the water, land, air and network of the green city！
On the water: the Nanning local water police station sent 2 police petrol boats and 6 motorboats to patrol day and night over Yongjiang River and Nanhu Lake, where some major events were held. The police patrols were also enhanced along the respective banks and around the nearby areas.
In the air: controled and monitored the lift-offs of various flying objects, such as hot-air balloons, aero boats, powered parachutes, gliders and light aircrafts.
On the land: the Nanning police had built ″ 4 defence lines″ based on the geographical situation of Nanning City: Line 1 was formed by the public security offices of the 5 peripheral counties of Nanning, including Hengxian, Binyang, Shanglin, Mashan and Longan; Line 2 was formed by the public security offices of Yongning and Wuming, the 2 adjacent counties of Nanning; Line 3 was formed by the public security offices of the 8 districts of Nanning, who would guard the inner city, including the train or bus stations, airport, ports, and other city entrances, so as to prevent the criminals, the explosive or hazardous goods from slipping into Nanning.
The ultimate Line 4 was of the greatest significance. The Nanning Public Security Bureau focused its own entire police staff, together with over 4000 formal security workers, as well as the armed police and students from the police schools on guarding the sites of the events, the residents of the guests and their transportation routes, etc. Besides, all the emergency staff, such as the special operation police and explosive removal staff were also ready for any unexpected incidents.
On the network: Guided by the expert team from the Ministry of Public Security and experts from the renowned domestic network security companies, the network police team joined with the other network security technical personnel conducted a comprehensive protection for the system of the important web sites, such as those for press release, product exhibition and trade, so as to prevent them from the attack of virus or hackers.(Translated by Yang Xu)
