Q What changes have you incorporated in your home from the last time you shot with Cosmo?

“I’ve moved from a bright pink to a burnt orange in terms of the colour palette. I like my house bright, so I’ve used oranges, pinks, purples and hints of gold I’ve also changed the decor accessories of my house and created certain pieces myself to give it a distinct feel.”

Q What led to the changes?

“Pink was getting too girly for me. It was a spontaneous decision that me and my friends took, on my trip to Bali. I had gotten bored of the shade, and felt it wasn’t reflecting my character fully.”

Q What is the décor theme of your house?

“‘Tribal glamour’ is how I’d like to describe it.”

Q your favourite corner in the house...

“I like the whole thing, because I’ve done it myself. That said, I spend the most time in my bedroom, so that’s where I’m most comfortable.”

Q What’s the most pricey thing in your home?

“A painting my mother gifted me. It’s an heirloom piece.”

Q Where do you shop for décor accessories?

“I love Apartment No. 9 in Greater Kailash, N-Block Market; it has some amazing stuff.”

Gauri Karan

She has an ongoing love-affair with white, and it’s evident in the way she has used the colour in her home. Her secret to a beautiful pad―Western sensibility with an Indian soul.

Q What changes have you made to your home since our last shoot?

“When we last shot, we had only just moved into our house, and have been in the process of doing it up since. It was always a dream for me to have a room where all was pristine white, with an abundance of natural light, and one that opens up into a garden. Therefore, my room has large windows and French doors, a four-poster bed, a console, bookshelves, and coffee table, all in white. I recently added a lovely ottoman with floral upholstery, bought from Jim Thompson years ago. Another addition is the large white console with a mirror by Malvika Tiwari. I also repainted the walls recently. The courtyard in my bathroom has been changed to a bright red from a blue, the living room to a lovely mauve, etc.”

Q What is the décor theme of your home?

“We wanted something that was fresh and classic, and had a cool Mediterranean feel.”

Q What inspires you décor wise?

“My family has always had a Western sensibility that is minimal and classic. So that’s what we stick to.”

Q What’s on your décor wishlist?

“An interesting artwork for my bedroom. I’m still searching.”

Q What changes have you made to your home since the last time you shot with Cosmo?

“Our living and dining area have undergone a change through wallpaper concepts. The colour palette is more chocolate and sunshine mustard instead of the previous black upholstery. A touch of aqua blue and olive green adds to the softness, and gives the room a more spacious feel.”

Q Which is your favourite corner in the house?

“It has to be the dining area―that’s where the family gets together for food and interesting conversations.”

Q What is the décor theme you’ve followed in your home?

“We’ve used clean lines that are geometric and crossculturally inspired. While the dining area is very Japanese, the living room brings in a vintage-India flavour in its most contemporary setting.”

“Contemporary lines bearing minimalism that can remain classic for years.”

Q What’s your biggest décor mistake?
