Go China K―Book China Center comes into service

On August 27, the press conference of go china K-book china center was co-held by the China Intercontinental Press and the South Korean Publishing Industry Development Institute on BIBF. The center has been settled in the China Intercontinental Press in Beijing.

Subordinate to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea, the South Korean Publishing Industry Development Institute is a support organization committed to the comprehensive development and systematic revitalization of South Korean publishing Industry. On the other side, for abundant press experience concerning foreign books and the establishment of Go China overseas (South Korea) expansion project in South Korea, the China Intercontinental Press attracted the interest of the South Korean Press Culture Institution.

Nan Zhenxiu, secretary-general of the South Korean Publishing Industry Development Institution, introduced the major responsibilities of the Institution on the press conference, including enacting policies on publishing industry, surveying and researching its actual state and cultivating talent for press industry. Besides, supporting e-book development and promoting export of press culture are also included.

Ms Jing Xiaomin, deputy director of the China Intercontinental Press, introduced their cooperation and communication with South Korean publishers. In 2007, the China Intercontinental Press exported the rights of 18 kinds of books on “Chinese Culture series” to South Korea’s presses. Among all the foreign-language periodicals published by the China Intercontinental Press, the two Korean periodicals Morning Beijing and Morning Shanghai are mostly loved by South Korean visitors in China. In 2012, Intercontinental Press cooperated with Little China, a Korean culture organization, and set up Go China in South Korea, providing South Koreans comprehensive information services concerning Chinese culture, life, tourism, education and investment. After two years’ development, Go China has achieved a lot. It not only set up offices in Seoul and Kwangju, but also became a famous and influential brand in South Korea. Ms Jing also said that the China Intercontinental Press would work to be the bridge connecting two countries in culture, and the China Intercontinental Press would help promote South Korean books in China with its local resource advantage.

The conference also witnessed the launching ceremony of South Korean Book co-established by the South Korean Publishing Industry Development Institution and the China Intercontinental Press. According to Jin Jiuzhen, director of Go China K-Book China Center, South Korean Book aims to catch up with the current South Korean culture tide and introduce more excellent South Korean books and writors to Chinese readers.
