It was Sunday that day. Mr Jackson got up at six as usual. Something was wrong with the crocodile(鳄鱼). He sent for several doctors, but none could heal it. It couldn’t be on show and the visitors could only see the empty crocodile pool. Of course, it made them unhappy, the story soon appeared in the newspaper. The mayor(市长) ordered the manager to solve the problem in a week. Soon a vet would come from the capital. Mr Jackson would meet him at the railway station at a quarter past seven. The thin and short vet began to work as soon as they got there. Mr Jackson took him to the room where the sick crocodile lived temporarily(暂时地). And then he went out. To his surprise, the man disappeared after he returned to the room, with two cups of coffee in his hands! He looked around carefully and found some blood on the floor. Then the manager came in. “How is the crocodile feeling now?” asked the manager. “ I’m sorry I don’t know,” said Mr Jackson. “The vet hasn’t come out of its stomach(肚子).”
