Abstract： Humanistic quality education is significant for fostering talents in the current society. As a pioneer in the field， Yang has contributed himself to advocating humanistic quality education all the life. Had been assigned to be the president of Huazhong University of Technology（Huazhong University of Science and Technology at present）， he promoted the establishment of the humanistic quality education lectures and prompted the implementation of the standard Chinese level test. Besides， he initiated the first humanistic quality education base for college students. After his retirement， Yang transferred his educational practice of many years into theoretical thoughts and immersed himself into the study on the humanities quality education thoughts. Gradually， he put forward his own unique conception regarding humanistic quality education in the end. Particularly， he holds that the core function of the college education lies in cultivation rather than machine-making. Apart from this， he supposes that science should interact with humanity and cultivate people with the knowledge and culture nurtures people. All of the core thoughts commit the immortalized contribution to pushing forward and implementing the humanistic quality education.
