  I walked in.

“May I please ask you for your name?” I asked politely.

“Sophie.” She reached out to shake my hand and I did.

I’ve planned to scream at her about how mean it was to make my mother leave but now it seemed that my planned had changed.

“Want a piece of cake, honey?” she asked nicely, pushing her brown hair back.

“Yes, please.” I said. I couldn’t believe that my stepmother was so nice. I decided not to ask her about my mum. She gave me the cake and sat on the sofa.

“Anyways,” continued Sophie. “ You may bring your friend with to the movie If you like.”

  “Yeah, I sure will.”

  Sophie’s eyes shone.

Sophie glanced at her watch and said “I think it’s time for you to go to . Would you like a cup of hot chocolate before going to bed?”

That was so kind of her! I thought. “Yes please.” I replied.

“Go up to your room first and I’ll bring it to you when it’s ready.” She told me.

“Ok.” I said quietly and walked to my room. I pushed the door open and saw a girl my age sitting in front of my desk, drawing.

“Who… Who are you?” I asked
