非进行时态的进行意义

中学英语中，表示“正在进行的动作”常用“be+v-ing”这一结构。但在日常的口语和习题中，用be动词+介词(简写为prep.)+名词(简写为n.)这一形式表示“正在进行的动作”也屡见不鲜。常见的构成形式有以下几种。
一、be+at+n.
e.g：My father is at work now.
=My father is working now.我父亲正在工作。
It is considered bad manners to make eating noises when at table in westerncountries.=It is considered bad manners to make eating noises when people are eatingin western countries.进餐时发出吃东西的声音在西方国家认为是失礼的。
由be+at+n.结构表示“进行意义”的还有：
at breakfast／lunch／supper(吃早／中／晚餐)，at dinner／at table(在吃饭)，at play(在玩)，at a meeting(在开会)，at school(上学)，at War(交战)，at drill(在操练)，at sea(在航海，在海上)，at the piano(弹钢琴)，at home(在家)，at(the)press(在印刷中)，at rest(在休息)等等。
二、be+in+n.
e.g：The roses are nOW in bloom.=The roses are blooming now.玫瑰正在开放。
由be+in+n，结构引出的一般表示“主动意义”，但也有表示“被动意义的”。
如：The lab is now in use until 3 o'clock.=The lab is now being used until 3 o'-clock.
由be+in+n.结构引出的具有这种“进行意义”的还有：in trouble(处于困境／困难中)，in operation(实施着法律计划等，运转／活动中)，in power(当权，执政)，inbed(卧床)，in danger(处于危险中)，in tears(流着眼泪，含泪)，in a hurry(匆忙的／地)，in debt(负债，欠债)，in deep sorrow(悲痛中，沉痛)，in love(恋爱中)，in print(已印好，已出版，在销售)，in poverty(贫困中)，in high／good spirits(精神高昂)，inbad／low spirits(垂头丧气)，in action(在活动中，运转中，在起作用)，in motion(机器车辆在动，运转中)，in despair(绝望)，in earnest(认真的，真正的)，in a rage(发脾气)，in hospital(住院)，in prison(被监禁，蹲监狱)，in service(被雇佣，在服兵役)，in the services[英](在服兵役)，in flower(盛开，开放)，in flight(在飞行)，inbusiness(经营，经商)，in preparation(在准备中)，in session(在开会／开庭/上课)，in need(需要)，in deep thought(沉思，深思)，in uniform(穿着制服)，in a sweat suit(穿着运动服)，in gumboots(穿着塑胶长靴)，in red／white／blue…(穿着红／白／蓝等衣服)等等。
三、be+on+n.
e.g：The dustmen are on strike.=The dustmen are striking.清洁工在罢工。
They are on holiday.=They are spending a holiday.他们正在度假。
上边两个句子均表主动意义，也有表被动意义的。如：
The refrigerators are on sale.=The refrigerators are being sold.电冰箱正在出售。
由be+on+n.结构引出的表示“进行意义”的短语还有：
on show(展示着，陈列着，展览着)，on duty(值班)，on display(陈列着)，onleave(在休假中)，on trial(试验性的)，on business(出差)，on fire(着火，在燃烧)，on tour(巡回演出，旅游中)，on loan(借出的，借入的)，on the move(在到处移动，进行中，进展中)，on the road(在旅途中；巡回演出中；推销员等到各地贩卖；运动队伍等在远征中)，on the turn(正要转变的，牛奶等开始变酸变坏等)，on the in-crease(不断增加，正在增大中)，on the wing(正在飞行，飞翔中；旅行中，活动中)，on one's／the way(在途中)，on exhibition(陈列中，展览着)，on vacation(在休假中，在度假中)，on a visit(在访问，作客逗留)，on the voyage out／borne(在出/归航途中)，on business(出差)，on guard(守卫，在岗上)，on a trip(在旅行)，on a voyage(在航海)等等。
四、be+under+n.
e.g：The ship is under way for America.=The ship is sailing for America.这艘船正开往美国。
该结构更多情况下表示被动意义。如：
The road is under construction.=The road is being constructed.这条路正在建设中。
The question is under consideration.=The question is being considered.这个问题正在考虑中。
They were under fire.他们遭到炮火打击。
The peasants were under water.农民饱受洪灾。
The young are under Western influence.年轻人受西方影响。
这种由be+under+n.结构引出的表示“进行意义”的短语还有：
under study(在研究中)，under examination(考试中)，under investigation(调查中)，under treatment(治疗中)，under control(被控制住)，under repair(维修中)，under arms(在战备状态中)，under analysis(在分析中)，under discussion(在讨论中)，under suspicion(被怀疑)等等。
