Teaching type of this design:Speaking & Writing

Analysis of the students:The students in Junior1 can say something in English but can’t express their opinions logically. The students’oral English levels are very different. And they enjoy team work and cooperation. So the team work and discussion in pairs can help all the students with different English levels. The students who are good at English enjoy the pleasure of helping and guiding others and enjoy the success in communicating with others fluently in English. The students who aren’t good at English enjoy the achievement of speaking English with others’ help, which gives them confidence in learning English. The students have learned the Reading on page 31 and have finished some extensive reading passages about pollution of environment and how to protect the earth, so they know more about the topic of this period, which enables them to speak confidently in this period.

Analysis of the teaching materials:The reading of this unit mainly talks about the problems of environment and the reasons, but doesn’t talk about how to protect the earth, which I think should be further learned by students. This is also a very good and necessary moral education. So before this period of speaking and writing, teacher needs to prepare a lot of reading materials about how to protect the earth for students to read and learn, which enables them to be confident in speaking in this period. What’s more, the grammar of this unit is to learn the pattern there be and countable and uncountable nouns, which will be reviewed and used in this period. For my students, I think the writing part of this unit is too easy, so I enrich its contents.

Teaching targets:1.To learn to discuss the situation and problems of environment 2. To learn how to solve these problems of environment 3. To complete the report on protecting the Earth 4. Learn how to analyse the requirements of writing composition

Teaching difficulties:1. Encourage all the students to express their opinions confidently 2.Guide students to help each other effectively by discussing in pairs and in groups 3.Get students to use new phrases and sentence structures to express themselves

Teaching emphasis:1. Enable students to be confident in speaking English fluently 2.Enable students to express their opinions in English logically 3.Enable students to understand we are facing serious problems of environment and also know how to protect the earth (Moral education)

Teaching arrangement of this unit:Altogether 7 periods, including 2 periods for Reading;2 periods for Language;1 period for Speaking & Writing;1 period for More Practice and 1 period for Study skills & Culture corner
