Marni’s new flagship boutique in New York’s SoHo district has an eclectic style one would expect in this historic district known for its bohemian chic. Expanding into the newly-vacant neighbouring space posed challenges but also allowed for each half of the shop to have a distinct personality while an overall cohesiveness was maintained.

Inspired by the 19th century cast iron facades common in the area and echoing the stepped display in the original boutique, one side of the new space is a massive piece of stainless steel that wraps and inclines towards the back of the shop, creating a powerful sense of perspective. With the opposite wall mirrored, the shop becomes a study in reflection.

Fibreglass display boxes are scattered along the length of the wall, interspersed with mannequin pieces and culminating in a circular shoe display area.Four large circular Barrisol lights are cut out of the ceiling, creating distinct zones within the shop, out of which stainless steel display trees grow and clustered mannequins float, seemingly suspended in space.

Polished stainless steel rails wrap around from the new space into the old, literally tying the two sides together and creating a sense of continuity.

受盛行于该地区19世纪铸铁建筑立面的启发并呼应精品店惯有的阶梯式展示,新的商店空间的一侧由一巨大的不锈钢构成并向后倾斜,产生了强烈的视觉冲击力。另一侧则是一面镜墙,从而增大了虚拟空间。

玻璃纤维的展示盒沿墙面散落,服装人体模型点缀其中,一直延续到一个圆形鞋子展示区。四盏巨大的Barrisol灯从天花板上空垂悬而下,划分出个性迥异的空间。在这些空间中,不锈钢的陈列树向上生长,相互簇拥的服装人体模型仿如在空中悬停。

抛光不锈钢栏杆从新空间向旧空间一路前行,意喻将两个空间连成一体,缔造了一种整体连贯的感觉。
