A little boy is telling his grandma how "everything" is going wrong: school, family problems, severe health problems, etc.

Meanwhile, grandma is baking a cake. She asks her grandson if he would like a snack1, which, of course, he does.

"Here, have some cooking oil."

"Yuck2 !" says the boy.

"How about a couple of raw eggs?"

"Gross3, grandma !"

"Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?'

"Grandma, those are all yucky!"

To which grandma relies, "Yes, all those things seem bad by themselves, but when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake !"

Life works the same way. Many times we wonder why life would let us go through such bad and difficult times. Just as a seed has the determination in fighting through the ground that is trying to suffocate4 it and keep the seed from breaking forth to its glorious destination5, so it is with us when we go through problems that try to keep us down. We need to have the mind set that we will break through and be victorious6 over every obstacle. The seed fights through and is stronger in the end, and we need to have the same determination and know, in the end, we will be stronger and more able to handlelife's challenges.

Do not lose heart if life is not easy for you right now, but encourage yourself and know you will be stronger, mentally and physically, because of the trials7 of life.

一个小男孩在给奶奶讲“每件事”是如何的不顺心:学校、家庭问题、严重的健康问题等等。

那时,奶奶在烤蛋糕,她问小孙子想不想来点儿点心,他当然想了。

“来点儿油。”

“呸!”男孩说道。

“来两个生鸡蛋怎么样?”

“别恶心了,奶奶!”

“那你想来点儿面粉吗?或是来点儿发酵粉?”

“奶奶,那些东西都令人讨厌!”

奶奶回答道:“是的,这些东西单独看起来是不怎么好,可是将它们以恰当的方式放在一起的时候,它们就能做出非常好吃的蛋糕来!”

生活也是一样的道理。很多时候,我们都会思索为什么生活让我们经历如此痛苦、艰难的时期。就像一颗种子有决心破土而出,冲破试图使它窒息并阻止它到达光荣目的地的土地,同样,我们在经历那些困扰我们前行的难题的时候,也要有种子的精神。我们必须坚信自己能挺过去,能够超越一切障碍。种子破土而出,最终变得更加强壮。我们应该有同样的决心,确信我们最终会越来越强壮,更有能力应对生活的挑战。

如果你现在感到生活不如意,不要灰心,要鼓励自己,并确信在经历生活的历练后,你的身心都会更加强壮。
