NDS Sells Well, Sells Out?NDS销售过旺，即将脱销？
Only a few days after Nintendo announced sales figures for the DS in America (nearly 4 million units), Nintendo of Europe released its own regional tally on January 5th. The DS has sold roughly 3.5 million units in Europe since its debut in March of 2005, bringing the global total to almost 13 million. Nintendo's DS continues to sell well in its home country with more than 5 million sold - but that may slow down as available units are becoming scarce. On its Japanese-language web page, Nintendo has issued an apology to gamers trying to get in on the DS action, saying stock of the item is low and that more DSs are expected to be in stores in late January.

Xbox 360 Final Fantasy XI Begins BetaXBOX360版《最终幻想XI》开始测试
Xbox 360 owners will soon get the opportunity to take a sneak peek at the world of Vana'diel, because the Final Fantasy XI beta testing period for Microsoft's new console has officially begun. Gamers can register for the beta now at Square Enix's playonline website, which handles all subscriptions for Final Fantasy XI. Originally released in mid-2002 for the PlayStation 2 in Japan, Square Enix's massively multiplayer online role-playing game has since migrated to PCs, the American PS2, and finally, the Xbox 360. Square Enix is promising enhanced visuals, audio, and other unique features for the game's debut on Microsoft's next-generation console.

Ubisoft Releases Chaos Theory Maps育碧公司《混沌理论》地图
Roughly four and a half months ago, Ubisoft released two new multiplayer maps for Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory over Xbox Live. The only problem was that the downloaded maps didn't work. The company quickly pulled them with the hopes of putting them back up again soon. Although some maps were up later, the official Chaos Theory forums are now buzzing with reports from Xbox 360 owners who are having problems with the game freezing or even refusing to load as a result of downloading the maps. So in December 2005, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory was added to Microsoft's official Xbox 360 backward-compatibility list.

TimeShift Beta Sign-ups under Way《时空飞梭》测试注册正在进行
The PC version of Atari's temporally challenging first-person shooter TimeShift is nearing completion, as evidenced by the fact that the publisher has opened registration for a multiplayer beta-testing period. Gamers interested in the beta can check out the minimum system requirements and put their names in the hat at the test's temporary website. Developed by Saber Interactive, TimeShift is slated for a spring release on the Xbox 360 as well as the PC. An Xbox edition will follow in the summer.
