Period 1 (Section A 1a-1c)

Teaching Procedures:

Step1 Warming up

1. Ss listen to an English song.

T: do you like the song? What do you think of the song?

Step 2. Pre-listening

1. T: The Voice of China is a very popular game show on TV. Look! Here’re more game shows. Game shows are one kind of TV shows.

2. T: What other kinds of TV shows do you know?

( Encourage Ss to say other kinds of TV shows as many as possible.)

3. Then show the mind-map about different kinds of TV shows.

4. Present different expressions about showing preferences:

love\ loves, like\ likes, don’t\ doesn’t mind, don’t\ doesn’t like and can’t stand by using different emoticons.

5. Show pictures about different kinds of TV shows for Ss to recognize what kind of TV show it is. .

Ss show their preferences about different TV programs like: CCTV News, Happy Camp, Weather Report and so on.

T: What do you think of CCTV News?

S1: I love\ like\ don’t mind\ don’t like \ can’t stand it because

it’s .... What do you think of CCTV News?

S2: I … it because it’s .... What do you think of…?

S3: I….

Step 3. While-listening

1. Ss Predict what they are going to listen to by using pictures and key words.

T: Look! Here’re Mark and Jack. What do they want to do?

Yes,they plan to watch TV. What may they talk about?

What TV shows may they watch?

2. Ss listen to 1b and number the TV shows in order.

Let’s listen and number the TV shows in the order you hear. When you listen, please listen for the key words(kinds of TV shows)

3. Ss listen to 1b again and choose the right answer.

4. Ss listen to 1b and imitate. Then read in parts.

Step 4. Post-listening

Pair-work

(1)Do a sample for Ss before the pair-work.

(2). Ss work in pairs, using 1c as a sample.

(3). Ask some pairs to act out. The other Ss listen and answer questions.

2. Practice

(1). Get one student to do a sample with me.

(2). Ss make up similar conversations and act out.

3. Note: Watching TV is sometimes a good way to relax. But please choose the right TV shows to watch and don’t watch TV too much.

Step 6. Sum up

Ss sum up what they’ve learned in this class.
