I’m not sure what’s a bigger mystery: all of the

unanswered questions in the show’s storylines, or the fact that I continue to watch. I not only don’t understand

what I’m watching, I don’t understand why I’m still watching it. Lost is that 1)addictive. Lost even 2)winked at its own complexity in a scene in which the character Hurley tries to explain to his mom just what’s happened so far.

Hurley: Okay, see, we did crash, but it was on this crazy

island. And we waited for rescue, and there wasn’t a rescue. And then, there was a Smoke Monster, and then there were other people on the island. We call them the Others. And they started attacking us. And we found some 3)hatches, and there was a button you had to push every 108 minutes or…well, I was never really clear on that, but…

To watch Lost is to be in a constant state of anxiety over whether you’re not understanding what’s going on, or you’re just an idiot. But for all my complaining,

I’ll say this: it’s all this 4)convoluted plotting that probably explains the show’s appeal. 5)Resolving all its 6)loose ends is gonna be like 7)hogtying a 8)centipede. Some days, I don’t think it could be done.

And if you don’t watch Lost, you might be thinking “I need to tune in” to understand what I’m talking about. But do yourself a favor, don’t. As hooked as I am, I’d warn others to wait until Lost completes, then digest it in one massive DVD 9)binge without the commercial breaks or seasonal pauses that only make it harder to understand. Were I able to travel back in time, would I start Lost again? I’m not sure, but it’s too late now.

观看《迷失》会让人不断产生焦虑,担心自己到底是看不懂发生了什么事情,还是只是一个。但是除开所有的怨言,我得承认――所有这些错综复杂的剧情也许正是这部电视剧的吸引力所在。解答所有悬而未决的问题就像要将蜈蚣五花大绑似的。有些时候,我认为这根本是“不可能的任务”。

如果你没看过《迷失》,或许你会想“我也要一看究竟”,这样才能听懂我在说什么。不过为了你自己着想,千万不要这样做。即使我是如此上瘾的粉丝,我也总会劝诫他人等《迷失》完结,然后用一大套DVD合集恶补一番,以免让广告时间和每一季的间隔增加理解难度。如果我能让时光倒流,我会否再次收看《迷失》呢?我不太确定,但是现在为时已晚了。
