help 意为“帮助”,可用作名词和动词｡现将其用法归纳如下:

一､ help 用作名词

help 可以用在及物动词或介词后面作宾语｡例如:

Could you give me some help? 你能帮助我吗?

Thanks for your help. 谢谢你的帮助｡

With her help, I passed the exam. 在她的帮助下,我通过了考试｡

二､ help 用作动词

1. help 可用作及物动词,后面直接跟名词或代词作宾语｡例如:

Can I help you? 要我帮忙吗?

Maybe Mr Smith can help Mary. 也许史密斯先生能帮助玛丽｡

2. help 后面可跟“宾语+宾语补足语”构成的复合宾语｡其中的宾语补足语可由介词短语､动词不定式或副词充当｡若由动词不定式充当宾语补足语时,则其中的 to 可有,也可以没有｡例如:

She often helps me with my English. 她经常帮我学英语｡

I can help you(to) learn Chinese. 我可以帮你学汉语｡

She often helps her mother do the washing.(=She often helps her mother with the washing.)她常常帮助她妈妈洗衣服｡

Would you please help me go downstairs? 请扶我下楼好吗?

3. help oneself(to)... 意为“请随便吃……”｡例如:

Help yourself to some chicken. 请随便吃点鸡肉吧｡

5. 用作呼救用语,意为“救命”｡例如:

Help! Help! A boy is drowning. 救命啊! 救命啊! 一个男孩子要淹死了｡
