There was no doubt that the mothers and daughters loved each other very much.However, their ways to expressing6 their love were quite different, which always caused misunderstanding between them.From the mothers’ point of view, they grew up in China where there were many traditions and rules to follow.Certainly, they suffered a lot in China in the old times7.Thus, they tried their best to searching for better opportunities for their daughters.On the other hand, the daughters grew up in America and lived in an American way8, so that they adopted the lifestyle and attitude of the American culture.But they couldn’t understand their mothers who arranged everything for them9.Indeed, they wanted to live on their own.

As a result, even though they did love each other very much, they beard10 different growing backgrounds and the different cultures in their minds.Thus, the complicated love caused their conflicts and misunderstanding.

This is a very nicely written little review on a novel I happen to like very much and I saw its movie version, too. This piece is especially interesting because the author analyzes the complication of the mother-daughter relationship from the points of view of both sides. For the most part, the author’s word and idiom usages are appropriate and the sentences are well structured.
