But to their surprise, Bob came back with many stamps in an album. Mr White was very happy after seeing them. However, Bob was going to take them back. “Bob, you can’t take them back until the others have seen them this afternoon.” said Mr White.

“I’m sorry, but they are my brother’s.” he answered, “He doesn’t want them to be out of the house for too long. He’s afraid that they will be lost.”

Is one week long enough to make you a different person?

Pan Jing, 13, a student at Shijiazhuang No. 40 Middle School, Hebei, thinks so. She used to have a hunchback (驼背) and found it difficult to get up early.

After one week of training to be a soldier, her hunchback is gone. She now gets up at six in the morning without any help. “I have changed and this has made my mother happy.” said Pan.

Pan’s health improved because she had to stand for hours every day. Pan and 875 other first-year junior students at her school finished a week’s military training(军训) with the local army early this month.

Army officers taught them how to stand to attention and march quickly. They also had to wake up early and get everything tidy.

Some schools ask their five-year students to do military training for one week. “Schools hope to get them ready for studying hard.” said Zhao Minzhan, a teacher.

Almost all the students are only children. Can they deal with training in summer without good food and without care of parents? Most of them say training is hard but they still love it.

“Training makes us stronger. Six girls in our class hurt themselves and cried during the training. However, they did not stop.” said Li Fangzhou, a junior 1 student at Dalian Yuwen School. “Our classmates are more disciplined(有纪律的) and united(团结的).” Li said.
