It was one day in August in 1887. That day would be unforgettable for the villagers in Banjos in Spain. On this day， people suddenly saw two children walking out of a cave. People couldn’t believe their eyes and walked near to watch carefully. It was sure that the skin of the two children was green. And the materials of their clothes were never seen. The two children couldn’t speak Spanish and they only stood there horribly （恐惧地）.

1887年8月的一天，对西班牙班贺斯附近的居民来说，是终生难忘的。这天人们突然看见从山洞里走出两个绿孩子。人们简直不敢相信自己的眼睛，就小心翼翼地走到跟前仔细观看。没错，这两个孩子的皮肤真是绿色的，身上穿的衣服面料也从来没有见过。他们不会说西班牙语，而只是惊恐地不知所措地站着。

Driven by curiosity （好奇心） and sympathy （同情心）， people sent food to the children. At the beginning， they would not eat， so the boy died soon. But the girl was rather obedient （顺从的） and she learnt a little Spanish to talk with the local people. Later， when she explained where she was from， she mentioned that she came from a place without the sun. One day， she was raised by the whirlwind（旋风） and cast（抛落） into the cave. This green girl lived another five years and died in 1892. But still people have no idea where she comes from and why her skin is green.

好奇心和同情心使人们很快给这两个孩子送来了食物，可惜起初他们不肯进食，那个男孩很快地死去了。而那个女孩还比较乖巧，她居然学会了一些西班牙语，并能和人们交谈。据她后来解释自己的来历时说，她是来自一个没有太阳的地方，有一天，她们被旋风卷起，后来就被抛落在那个山洞里。这个绿女孩后来又活了5年，于1892年死去。至于她到底从哪里来，为什么皮肤是绿色的，人们始终无法找到答案。

But those two strange green children were not unique （独一无二的） on the earth. As early as the 11th century， two green children walked out from a cave in England. They looked very like the two green children discovered in Spain. To our surprise， that green girl also said that they came from a place without the sun.

但是这两个奇怪的绿孩子的事件在地球上并不是独一无二的。早在十一世纪，从英国的一个山洞里也曾走出来两个绿孩子。他们的长相、皮肤和西班牙的这两个绿孩子极为相似。令人惊异的是，当时的那个绿女孩也说，她们是来自一个没有太阳的地方。

These two strange incidents make people very puzzled， because we all know that there are only white， yellow and black people on the earth. Some people who claim that they have seen the extraterrestrials（外星人） describe them as humanoids（类人生物） with small height and those extraterrestrials can emit（发出） green color. They are also called “small greeners”. These make people think that whether the two green children discovered in Spain are related to extraterrestrials. The green children said that they came from a place without the sun. Where is it on earth？ No one can give an explanation.

这两次奇怪的事件，始终使人们迷惑不解。因为人们都知道地球上的人只有白、黄、黑三种肤色，而有些自称见过外星人的人在说到外星人时，总是把他们描绘成身材矮小、发出绿光的类人生物，也被称为“小绿人”。这不禁使人们想到，在西班牙发现的绿孩子是不是与被称为“小绿人”的外星人有关。而绿孩子自称的“没有太阳的地方”，到底是哪儿？也没有人能够解释。

Scientists point out that human beings are not the only creatures in the great universe. There are 100 million planets which could have life on them only in the Milky Way Galaxy （银河系）. There are still 18 thousand

planets which are fit for humanoids to live on. Among them， at least 10 planets’ civilization could develop faster than the earth. So when there are really green children coming to visit the earth， we should welcome them without any surprise.

科学家们指出，在浩翰的宇宙中，类人生物肯定不是唯独我们人类。仅仅在银河系就有一亿颗星球完全有可能有生命存在，还有1.8万颗行星适合类人生物居住，这里面至少有10颗行星的文明能得到发展并很可能超过我们地球，所以即使真的有小绿孩来光顾地球，我们也将不足为怪地欢迎他们。
