Burgundy Culinary Experience

Burgundy is a historic region of the east central France with a glorious heritage manifested by the Chateaux with glazed roofs, ducal towns and charming villages. It is also one of the most famous culinary region of France. Obviously, Burgundy is best known for its hearty and sumptuous local food specialties accompanied by superb choices of fine wines. Burgundy Fondue is one of the traditional dishes in this area.

勃艮第是位于法国中部以东的一个历史悠久的地区,屋顶由釉瓦铺就的城堡、公爵的城池领地以及迷人的乡村全都折射出了那里的辉煌遗产。另外,这里还是法国最著名的美食地欧之一。面勃艮第最负盛名的显然就是当地那些配合精选上好葡萄酒来食用的丰盛特色菜肴。勃艮第火锅就是此地传统菜肴之一。

Dating from the 17th century, this Fondue Bourguignonne has gone down through the ages to become a traditional French celebration for friends and family. The history of Burgundy Fondue begins in 1652, in Dijon, during the confrontation between the Duke of Burgundy and foreign invaders. Besieged and lacking resources, the Duke's troops decided to share the last piece of meat. The Duke cut the meat in small cubes and put it into the boiling oil which was meant to chase away the invaders.

自17世纪起,这种牛肉火锅便世代相传,成为了法国亲朋间一种传统的庆祝方式。勃艮第火锅的历史始于1652年的第戎,出现于勃艮第公爵抗争外来侵略者的时期。处于围困之中又资源匮乏的公爵部队,决定分享他们最后的一块肉食。公爵把那块肉切成丁状,放入沸油之中,寓意为将侵略者驱赶出去。

After these historical events, this ritual became a convivial dish, which French people used to enjoy with family and with friends. Fondue is served with vegetables and salad but the main point is a selection of six famous sauces.

当这些历史事件过去之后,这一形式演变成了一道欢宴菜肴,被法国人用来与家人和朋友共享。这种火锅以各种蔬菜、沙拉为配菜,但其重头部分却是六种有名的精选沙司。
