Chelsy Davy took her place beside Prince Harry at a formal event for the first time, when he received his campaign medal for service in Afghanistan. Harry’s girlfriend sat with his brother, Prince William, and father, the Prince of Wales, in seating reserved for VIPs during the ceremony at Combermere barracks in Windsor. The young royal was one of 170 members of the Household Cavalry regiment being decorated for service in Helmand province. With well-wishers lining the streets, he and his comrades paraded in full desert camouflage to a thanksgiving service.

[Press Association] Youth who walked on to motorway is killed by car

A 16-year-old youth died after he was struck by a car when he walked on to the M60 motorway near Prestwich, Manchester, on Saturday night. The youth, believed to be from Burnley, Lancashire, died in hospital. A spokesman for Greater Manchester police said he was hit at junction 17 of the M60. “We are appealing for witnesses as it is currently unclear why he was on the motorway. The boy was wearing a black hooded jumper with a red top underneath, black jogging bottoms and black trainers. He was seen walking towards the motorway from the Bury New Road roundabout.”

The pilot of a holiday jet aborted a landing after about ten youths were spotted near the runway. The flight to Blackpool airport from Palma, Majorca（Mallorca）, was due to land at 11pm on Friday. The aircraft had to do another circuit after contractors reported seeing the group near a fence, and police were called. Paul Smith, 44, a passenger from Blackpool, said: “Everyone on board was a little bit nervous.”
