Reporter: “No Ball Games” is one of Banksy’s most famous pieces of street art, but work began this week to remove it from the wall it’s been on for at least four years. Today, at the 1)junction of Tottenham High Road and Philip Lane, behind the boards, the last bit was being cut away.

The Sincura Group, tasked with the sale of this Banksy says that the building work was damaging the art, that it was being defaced anyway, and that the CCTV camera pole was spoiling its view. It also said that it wasn’t being enjoyed where it was.

This isn’t the first time the Sincura Group has taken a Banksy off London streets. This one, “Slave Labour,”was removed from Wood Green in February. It later sold for a reported three quarters of a million Pounds.

Richard Howard-Griffin (Director of Street Art London): What you’re seeing here is quite a kind of 2)crass 3)profiteering on behalf of the people here actually removing this mural. Even though they’re cloaking it in these kind [sic] of altruistic motives, it’s quite easy to see through that. The question of who owns it is probably best answered by the artist, and I don’t think he’s going to comment. The whole purpose of doing stuff on the street is so it can be appreciated by the general public and not put in a rich person’s house as some kind of biggame trophy.

Reporter: The Sincura Group was not available for comment today, and they won’t say who approached them to manage the sale. However, on their website they say the mural will be restored and auctioned off with the profits going to a north London Charity. But, for Tottenham locals, it leaves behind a very ordinary wall, today behind boardings. And for the rest of us, perhaps the question, which Banksy will be next.
