With the global economy and trade developing in a high speed， English， widely used in our daily life， is becoming more and more popular and important all over the world. There is no exception in china， as an important foreign language， English has been a major subject in the school. As we all know， a successful class is often accomplished by a successful teacher .The teacher plays a special role in class. He has his own characteristics that make a big difference to a successful class. But what is a successful english like？
In my opinion， it seems all successful English teachers have the same four characteristics： solid professional knowledge， qualified personalities， unique teaching methods and nice communicating skills. These four qualities recommended are what make certain English teachers stand out among their peers.
1 Solid professional knowledge
As a successful English teacher， it is essential to be equipped with solid professional knowledge. That is to say， you should be competent in English and being an erudite.

Often， teachers are respected by society because they are viewed as knowledgeable about different subjects of school and so are English teachers. Therefore， I believe that most teachers respect， love， care， instruct， and guide their students to become a successful person. Students view their teachers as being wise so they look up for them. Students know that if they need something they just need to ask them because kids learn from every lesson the teacher gives. In other words， in English teaching， you must have good pronunciation and intonation， can communicate with the language in oral and written forms and can understand some basic English grammar. It’s a basic element of being a successful English teacher. You should do well in listening， speaking， reading， and writing English. A good pronunciation of English is especially important to an English teacher. Many students love English just because they enjoy their teacher’s excellent pronunciation. But some of them can’t pronounce English accurately because their teacher has a poor pronunciation. And it’s very hard for them to rectify their pronunciation later. It’s necessary to make sure that what the teachers teach is correct. And only a teacher has enough knowledge about English can he teach the students properly.
2 Qualified personalities
As a successful teacher， one should have qualified personalities.
2.1Be enthusiastic about teaching.
Successful English teachers love English， love English teaching and love their jobs. If you ask a good teacher whether they would do it all over again given the choice， they always answer "Yes." You need to care for “the whole child” instead of just caring for the language that you are teaching. You need to help children to develop in a round way. You need to guide them in mastering learning how to learn， help them to develop the ability of using imaginations and learning to solve problem. You also need to teach them to understand others and respect others. I believe that teachers must love their career in order for them to pass enthusiasm， to assists， and to provide a warm environment to the students. In my opinion teachers are the second mothers for the students because students spend a lot of time with their teachers. Sometimes， the teacher’s caring attitudes could have a long positive or negative influence on students. Student’s self-esteem could be lift up because it could create ambitions in their minds for future academic success. As Mike Rose explains in Boundaries， that an educator must be an open mind person that must respect the students diversity and give love and caring attitudes toward students. I believe that is crucial to make students believe in themselves.

Then according these， he makes out a proper program about the class arrangement of building a actively and humorous class atmosphere. He should know how to organize a lesson and how to let students learn English efficiently and so on. A good teacher must have a commanding presence in the classroom. Students of all ages learn better from authority figures that they respect， because they are not constantly second-guessing what the teacher says and does. Having complete control over the classroom also discourages discipline problems in younger students. Students can sense when they are in the presence of a masterful teacher.
