摘要:英语写作是听说读写四项语言技能中不可分割的一个重要组成部分,更是语言生成能力的主要表现形式,但是在实际的课堂教学中,写作经常被忽略或者一带而过。学生英语写作的提高是一个逐步的过程,需要学生自身的主观努力,但是也需要教师掌握一定的写作教学的技巧和方法。本文作者介绍了外籍教师教学写作的八种方法,以供中小学英语教师借鉴运用。

就目前的中学英语写作教学法而言,多数教师采取的仍然是传统的教学方式。通常教师根据中考或者高考书面表达的写作要求,给学生拟定一定的题目,要求他们使用多种句法形式、修辞手段和篇章结构完成写作任务。不少学生在写作时感觉无从下手,习惯以汉语思维遣词造句和谋篇布局,所写的文句支离破碎且语法错误较多。久而久之,学生对写作失去兴趣甚至产生畏惧心理。笔者曾有幸听过几次外籍教师的写作教学课,我认为几位洋老师介绍的写作教学法很值得我们借鉴。
一、方法一:扩展法
教师给学生提供一些简单的短句子,让学生做扩展性练习。学生根据自己的想法扩展句子,只要语法用法正确,符合英语表达习惯就可以。
例:
I am a boy.
I am a handsome boy.
I am a brave and handsome boy.
I am a brave and handsome boy who likes pop music.
I am a brave and handsome boy who likes pop music and can speak English fluently.
二、方法二:预测法
教师找一个有趣的故事,给学生讲一段,让学生自己预测故事的发展并写出来与大家分享。教师不应该限制学生的思维发展,让学生充分发挥自己的想象力。
例:the giving tree(教师根据学生的预测一步一步向下引导)
A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree. It loved a boy very much and the boy loved to come and played around it everyday.
Prediction 1: What happened to them?
He collected the leaves, climbed to the tree top and ate the apples. If tired, he took a nap under the shadow. He loved the tree and the tree was so happy.
One day, the boy came back to the tree. The tree said: “Come and play with me.” “I am no longer a kid; I do not play around a tree any more. I want toys and I need money to buy them.”“Sorry, I do not have money, but you can pick all my apples and sell them. So you will have money.” The boy was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily. The tree was happy.
Prediction 2: What happened to the boy?
One day, the boy who now turned into a man returned and the tree was excited. “Come and play with me”, the tree said. “I do not have time to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?” “Sorry, I do not have any house, but you can chop off my branches to build your house.” So the man cut all the branches and left happily.
Prediction 3: What happened then?
One hot summer, the man returned and the tree was delighted. “Come and play with me.” The tree said. “I am getting old and I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat?” said the man. “Use my trunk to build your boat.” said the tree. “You can sail far away and be happy.” So the man cut the tree trunk to make his boat.
Prediction 4: What happened next?
Finally, the man returned after many years. “Sorry my boy, but I do not have anything for you any more. No more apples for you...” the tree said. “No problem, I do not have any teeth to bite.” the man replied. “No more trunk for you to climb on.” “I am too old for that now.” the man said. “I really can not give you anything...the only thing left is my dying roots.” the tree said with tears. “I do not need much now, just a place to rest. I am too tired after all these years.” The man replied. “Good, old tree roots are the best place to lean on and rest. Come, sit down with me and have a rest”. The man sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears...
三、方法三:三行诗法
教师引导和帮助学生按音节写小诗。教师可以规定诗的音节数目,例如规定一共17个音节,按5、7、5分三行写,行末押韵,表意自由不受限制。
例:My days are happy
I play computer freely
sing songs happily
四、方法四:学生艺术
教师为学生提供一个主题,要求他们根据该主题进行艺术创作,可以作画,可以办海报等,然后就该主题相互展开讨论,写一篇文章。
例:Now in middle schools, cheating is popular in all kinds of examinations. Only a few students never cheat in exams, most students cheat more or less.
Many students don’t work hard at their lessons. They are afraid that they will fail to pass the exam if they only depend on their own abilities. If a student fails in an exam, he will lose the chance to go to key middle schools or colleges and their parents will be very disappointed and sometimes even punish them.
How can we solve the problem? In my opinion, it is not enough to punish the students who cheat in the exams. We should also take measures to improve the examination system.
五、方法五:故事接龙法
教师给学生一个句子作为故事的开头,让学生一个接一个说句子续故事,然后再把故事写出来。
例:After waking, David
After waking, David found it was very late to go to school. He pulled on his clothes and hurried to school. When he rode his bike along the river bank, he suddenly heard a sharp cry for help. Just at that moment, he saw a boy struggling in the river. He pulled off his clothes and jumped into the water and helped the boy onto the bank. And then he helped his mother to send the boy to the hospital.
六、方法六:日记法
要求学生每天用英语写一篇日记,体裁、内容不限,学生喜欢写什么就写什么。但教师要鼓励学生尽量利用课文中的新词汇和新句型。
例:It is Sunday today. My mother and I decided to go the zoo, which is only 2 kilometers from my home. We started at 8 o’clock. After ten minutes, the No.3 bus took us right there. The zoo was crowded with people, most of whom are young parents and their children. There are many kinds of animals in the zoo, elephants, bears, lions, tigers, monkeys and beautiful birds. The monkeys were very lovely and we loved them very much. At 12, we returned home. What a wonderful time we had in the zoo today.
七、方法七:谈论法
让学生两人一组相互谈论自己喜欢的电视节目、书、影视明星、旅游、运动等,然后按谈论的内容写小短文,可以描述内容,也可以发表评论。
例:Yao Ming was born in Shanghai on September12, 1980. He is now 2.26 metres tall and 134kg in weight. It is said that he likes meat best and his favorite color is blue. The man he worships most is late Premier Zhou Enlai. His motto is that one must believe in himself.
He joined Shanghai basketball team in 1997 and became a member of China national team in 1998. Two years later, he was chosen as a member of Asian All-star basketball team. In 2002, he was selected into the Houston Rockets in the NBA.
He is a top basketball player both in China and all over the world.
八、方法八:新闻报道法
让学生就他们身边发生的新鲜事学写新闻稿,然后在班上充当电视小记者,把自己写的新闻报道给大家。教师可以推荐写得好的稿件到校广播电台播报。
例:This afternoon, there was a football match between our school team and No.3 middle school. We defeated them by three to two in the match. All the goals were scored in the second half of the match. Many teachers and students watched the match and cheered for them. It was very exciting.
