Chippewa广场只是萨凡纳共有的24座（现存22座）广场之一，《阿甘正传》也只是曾在萨凡纳取景的众多电影中的一部，历史中和现实中的萨凡纳，都拥有许多被人记得的因素。不过说起萨凡纳，广场、墓地和被寄生藤缠绕的橡树所营造出的诡异氛围都是许多来过这里的人的第一印象。
历史中的萨凡纳曾经历过美国独立战争和南北战争，两次于1796年和1820年成为战场，所以城市里的建筑大多经历过枪林弹雨的洗礼，现在依然可以看到斑驳的遗迹。除了战争，这个命运波折的城市还曾经历过黄热病、热带风暴、火灾等各种自然灾害，在不同年代中被夺取过许多生命，这些灵魂至今仍被安置在萨凡纳随处可见的墓地中，也使得萨凡纳成为全美有名的“鬼城”，而夜间游历“鬼城”更成为许多有此经历的游客毕生难忘的一段回忆。
萨凡纳的许多广场虽是这个城市的标志，却也为不熟悉这里的人带来许多疑惑。现存的22座广场虽不尽相同，但对于非萨凡纳居民来说，相似的广场们常常让他们像身处迷宫一样，总感觉是在同一个地点重复同样的路径。不过如果你静下心来，仔细观察广场的格局、植物和纪念历史人物的雕像，就不难发现每个广场所提供的不同段落的历史遗留下来的故事。
历史虽是萨凡纳的迷人之处，但萨凡纳没有被困在历史的漩涡里。由于自身的港口城市优势，几个世纪前这里就是贸易往来的重要地带。历史上第一台轧棉花机和第一艘穿越海洋的蒸汽船都诞生于萨凡纳。这里还有吸引世界各地莘莘学子前来求学的萨凡纳艺术与设计学院。到近代，生产世界顶级公务机的制造商――湾流宇航也将总部安营扎寨在萨凡纳。
在湾流看来，萨凡纳的魅力远不止于此。日前，湾流宇航的区域副总裁蔡海文接受了《私人飞机》的专访，向本刊讲述了湾流以及他个人与萨凡纳之间的不解之缘。
Many of you may not have been to Savannah， but you can’t be strange to the city if you have seen “Forrest Gump”. In the movie， Gump tells his life story to whomever wishes to sit down next to him on the bench and listen. The scenes were shot at Chippewa square， Savannah. Although the bench is no longer at the same place， it had been shifted to Savannah History Museum for display.
Chippewa square is one of Savannah’s 24 squares （22 remained now）， and “Forrest Gump” is one of the many movies that were filmed in Savannah. Either in history or reality， there are many reasonable facts to remember Savannah apart from movies. When mentioned of Savannah to most people who had been there， the squares， graveyards and spooky atmosphere created by Spanish moss draping over oaks always become the ones first minded.
Savannah was involved in both Independent War and Civil war， and became the battle field twice in the year of 1796 and 1820. Most buildings in this city suffered gunfire and even now it’s not too invisible to recognize the marks left on surface walls. Despite war， the city also suffered through yellow fever epidemics， tropical storm and conflagration that brought away thousands of lives within different era. The bodies were buried and the souls silently lay under tombstones everywhere to be seen in town. For this matter， Savannah became the famous “ghost city” in the states. Many tourists experienced the unforgettable night tour in the “ghost city” of their lifetimes.
The squares are the signs of Savannah； they also made tourists lost in the city. The remained 22 squares all share similarities； meanwhile， they keep the differences in details. To non-citizens the similar squares often trap them like in a maze. You always wonder if you have walked same streets or parks over and over. However if you start to pay attention to details of squares such as layouts， plants and memorial sculptures of historical figures， it doesn’t seem so hard to realize differences and the stories hidden behind construct of each square.
History makes Savannah a charm city； however the city is not obsessed in the charm of history. Being a port city benefits its own advantages. Long before centuries， Savannah was an important place for commerce and trading. The first cotton gin and steamship ship that successfully crossed the ocean were also born in Savannah. The Savannah College of Art and Design attracts students from all over the world. In modern history， the world top class business aircraft manufacturer Gulfstream Aerospace settled in Savannah.
To Gulfstream， the fascination of Savannah is more than we’ve listed. Recently， Herman Chai， Regional Vice President of Gulfstream accepted an interview from U-jet， told us how Gulfstream bonded with Savannah and his personal interests to the city.
