Experimental Study on the Efficiency of Research-oriented Teaching Approach in College English Classes, by RUAN Lidong & RUAN Xiaoqin, p.4

This paper, by use of quantity and quality method, investigates and analyzes the efficiency of research-oriented teaching approach in college English classes. It discovers that research-oriented teaching approach is widely identified and welcome by college students, yet the input of relevant theory should be strengthened; through research-oriented learning, the students’ horizon is broadened, with their autonomous learning ability promoted, problem conscience and research ability cultivated and team spirits developed, which lays foundation for their life learning. It proves that research-oriented teaching approach is feasible and effective.

An Empirical Study on the Metaphorical Competence of Identification and Understanding of Chinese English learners, by GONG Bing, p.22

The present study examines the four dimensions of metaphoric competence of identification and understanding both in sentences and in texts. The result indicates that the English level of the participants does not contribute much to the development of metaphoric competence of identification and understanding, though they are closely related. The data shows that Chinese English majors’ metaphoric competence of identification and understanding has obviously underdeveloped. The article concludes that the traditional instruction of language and culture has proved ineffective in the development of metaphorical competence.

The translator is the subject in the translating activity. This paper first focuses on the analyses of the translator’s identity and subjectivity in the three different translator subject center paradigms, revealing that the translator’s subjectivity has undergone the shift process from invisibility to prominence. Then it points out that some sided views on the translator’s subjectivity exist in the above-mentioned three paradigms. Finally it concludes that Marxist practical theories on language can help the people to form a dialectical understanding of the translator’s subjectivity.

This paper endeavors to probe the main demanding of married women and explore why women at that time accepted this treatment and how the demanding influenced the western culture and its women. The final goal is to show that we need collaborative efforts of both in order to establish the equal status between men and women, and that in the process of absorbing the essence of the Bible, we should get rid of the negative influence and absorb the positive ones, thus to make the contributions to build a harmonious family and society.
