写一封真挚的自荐信

“自荐信”这一类型的书面表达在英语高考中很常见。比如，2006年高考英语全国卷Ⅱ要求同学为申请成为亚洲冬季运动会志愿者写一封自荐信；2006年的北京卷要求为报名参加夏令营写一篇个人介绍，并说明参加活动的目的；2008年的福建卷要求根据夏令营志愿者招募广告写一封自荐信，等等。

由此可见，高考书面表达考查的自荐信写作，主题多为申请成为志愿者或申请参加某项活动。但其实，自荐信写作考查的主题还有许多，比如自荐成为班长、自荐当老师的助手、申请假期实习等。

不论是写作何种目的的自荐信，首先要讲清楚自己的姓名、年龄、所在学校等基本情况。同学们对此应该比较熟悉，不外乎My name is..., I’m a boygirl of 17 from China, studying at high school now，或者I’m..., a long hair girl presently attending Yangguang Middle School in Zhejiang等。

其次，要表达自己的意愿、优势、特长，以打动对方，获得机会。这是自荐信中最重要的内容，可以分为两部分。

（1） 申请的目的

■交友：It would be a great opportunity to make friends with young people from different countries■areas.

■了解不同文化，拓宽视野：I would like to join in the activity for the purpose of learning about different cultures and broadening my horizons.

■服务各国来宾，促进交流：The purpose of my being a volunteer is to help people from all over the world, make them feel at home, and promote exchange with foreigners.

■服务社区：There is no doubt that it will be a good chance for me to serve the community.

■体验生活，积累社会经验：The practice is an important approach for me to learn from real life, and accumulate more social experiences.

（2） 自身的竞争优势

■学历、年龄符合要求：My education and age are in line with the requirements you made.

■性格开朗，善于交流：As an outgoing boygirl, I am good at communicating with others.

■乐于助人：I am willing to give a hand to those in trouble.

■与人相处融洽：I get along with others easily, which is especially useful for a volunteer.

■工作积极、负责，学习能力强：I have an active and responsible attitude to work, and have strong learning ability.

■英语流利：

I am good at English and I can talk with foreigners in English freely.

My fluent English equips me with the ability to communicate with foreign students freely.

Since my spoken English is second to none in my class, there is no difficulty for me in communicating with foreigners and giving them proper guidance.

■个人特长：

I’m interested in photography, so I can record the highlights during the activities.

I have a good knowledge of Chinese history, so I can not only provide service but also spread our culture.

在文章的最后，还要展示自己参选的决心――如果成功入选，自己会如何表现，使对方感受到你的自信和热切期待。比如：

Actions speak louder than words.

If I am lucky enough to get the job, I will do my best to make a very positive contribution.

I will value it and do all I can if I could be accepted, I believe I can be a qualified member.

I’d really appreciate it and spare no efforts to do the best if given the chance.

I really have a strong hunger for your appreciation and I promise that I would cherish the chance and be devoted to offering the best service.

另外，要注意的是，自荐信是书信的一种，文章还必须符合书信写作的格式，开头要有问候，结尾要有致辞、署名。

虽然浙江省还未考过自荐信的写作，但不代表这类作文不会在浙江省的英语卷中出现。有了以上内容积累，写作时就不会无话可写了。

Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is Chen Li, a Senior Two student. I have learnt from the school newspaper that you are recruiting volunteers for a service group which would help the students from Australia, so I am writing to apply for the job.

I would like to join in the activity for the purpose of learning about different cultures and promoting exchange with foreigners. And I think it is a great opportunity to make friends with young people from different countries.

I feel that I am competent to meet the requirements. As an outgoing boy, I am good at communicating with others, so I can get along with others easily. Meanwhile, I have a good knowledge of Chinese history, so I can not only provide service but also spread our culture. In addition, I can talk with foreigners in English freely.
