Andy: Hey Linda! How goes it?

Linda: Oh not too shabby, yourself?

Andy: Meh, I’ve been better. Remember how I was on the job hunt? I got three offers this week, and now I’ve got no idea what to do.

Andy: Well, they’re really small. There’s almost no room for advancement and they consistently work on the same kind of projects. I’d probably be bored within a few years.

Linda: Hmmm. Okay, next?

Andy: Next is an international marketing firm. It isn’t great pay for the position, but there are lots of opportunities to move up.

Linda: Last?

Andy: It’s a company that does animation for TV shows and kids’ movies. They have contracts with major companies like Disney.

Linda:Whoa , that sounds really awesome.

Andy: Except that the environment seemed so stressful. Just being there for 20 minutes put me in a bad mood.

Linda: Hmmm…that’s not good. Alright, so now we need to decide, right?

Andy: ④You make it sound so easy!

Linda: Andy, it is. Forget that animation company. You’d just be miserable, and 1)no amount of connections is worth how much you’d hate your life.

Andy: True.

Linda: Next you need to decide if you want to move up in that marketing firm―is it the kind of company you’d want to work at for 10 years plus?

Andy: Uh. Not really. I’m not too stoked on some of their business practices.

Linda: Then Andy, you’ve made your decision. If you get bored at the other job, just start looking for another. It’s good experience, good pay, and, most importantly, you’ll be happy.

Andy: Wow. I guess it was easy. Thanks Linda, I’ll let them know today!

① I guess when it rains, it pours. 我猜这就是好事成双吧。

when it rains, it pours: when one thing happens, many things may come at the same time（一件事发生了，其他许多事便接连而至）。例如：

④ You make it sound so easy! 你说得容易！

You make it sound so easy: expresses an objection to others making sth. seem much easier than it actually is（对他人淡化某事的难度表示不满）。例如：

―With help from all the new helpers and the upgraded software, you should be able to meet the sales target.

―You make it sound so easy. You come try it.

⑤ We’re even! 咱就扯平了。

be even (with sb.): do not owe sb. anything（与某人两清，互不相欠）。例如：
